As the world went though Covid, we at Sahar decided to focus our energy not only in creating new quality designs but also on our social projects to support our values. We are a brand that believe that you have to give back to the community. In December 2021 we launched project MAR.
Project MAR is destined to help children from the communities of Rio de Janeiro giving them more opportunity through water sports. A percentage of all sales is destined to this project. As we know the reality for these kids which are born in the Favelas are limited and sadly have less opportunities in life, the grand majority of these kids end up choosing the wrong paths and losing their lives at an early age.
Our initial step to this growing project is by sponsoring Gloria surf school, community owned and well known in Rio de Janeiro. Arpoador was the chosen place because it was where CEO Samantha Harding started to surf at an early age of 11 after moving to Brazil from the UAE. During the many years of surfing at her local home break, Samantha thought the best way to initiate project MAR was to support Gloria surf school, the owner Jean has always looked after Samantha when she was surfing. In a way to give back to the community, Gloria is the first school to be sponsored in Brazil.
A field day is regularly organised for the kids of the communities to come down to Arpoador and learn to surf and just have fun for the day.
When purchasing Sahar you are not only buying a beautiful quality design which will last for years, you are helping who needs it the most, doing your part and helping support the community.
Follow the surf school Gloria at @surf_gloria and watch the beautiful project unwind.
Feel free to also schedule your surf lesson with them when in Rio!

]]>Tell us a little bit about you: I’m Makani, I live on the North Shore of Oahu. I love going to the beach, surfing, and training Jiujitsu. Things I also enjoy are traveling, meeting new people, and eating at new places.
Destination: North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii
Best places to hit the beach: My favorite spots are Pipeline, Sunset, Haleiwa, and a few other secret spots on the north shore.
Best places to hit the pool: Favorite pool on the north shore is at turtle bay. A few other good ones in Honolulu are the Sheraton at Waikiki beach, Alohilani, the prince resort, and the modern Honolulu.
Nice dinner: There are so many good places to eat around the island. I personally like leileis at turtle bay. Another one is Dukes in Waikiki. Roy Yamaguchi also has a great chain of restaurants located through out the islands that has great taste.
Cocktail bar: Dukes in front of Waikiki beach and Haleiwa Joes in the North Shore. Both places have great appetizers, cocktails, and good views.
Traditional cuisine and where to get the best: Hawaii has a lot of mixed variety’s of food. One spot a lot of locals go to is Pupukea Grill across from sharks cove beach. Traditional Hawaiian food I LOVE. It consists of Kalua pork, Laulau, lomi salmon, poi, squid luau, chicken long rice, and sweet potato. If you go to any traditional Hawaiian celebration you will most likely have this food. The best place to get this type of food is at Waiahole Poi Factory on the East side of Oahu.
Nice hotel: A nice hotel on Oahu is the Kahala Hotel. It’s on the other end of town so away from the busy lifestyle in Waikiki, but it’s also close enough to great restaurants, amazing beaches, and nightlife!!

Support small independent businesses from the comfort and safety of your home. So come and find those creative artisan pieces, and unique clothes, all in one place. Shop handmade jewellery, gorgeous scents or an up-cycled bag
We are all becoming increasingly bored of the same old high street items. Many of us are now more attracted to the makers markets and artisan stalls that once we may have seen as drab and avoided. Now we are intrigued by their creativity, and we applaud their innovative nature

Where will they go?
So, why am I telling you this? Because 2020 has hit these folk hard. Most markets, pop up shops and stalls have had to vacate their usual spots and rely on online sales. But this can be expensive marketing wise.
I hate to say but we in the UK have lost many amazing businesses that couldn’t sustain this testing period. It is acknowledged that 6 million small businesses are at risk with 7% of small businesses in London alone have closed permanently. Some brand’s will successfully claw their way back into view I’m sure, it got me wondering, what cool, unique boutiques am I going to miss out on?
Make them smile with a little support
We need to continue our support of the smaller, vulnerable businesses. The ones that rely on their regular customers and who appreciate every single little purchase someone makes. You know that little smile they do when you say “I’ll take this please” it makes you feel good and they feel appreciated. Their hard work has led to someone making the active decision to purchase this. Fulfilling their dreams and brushing away any doubts they may have about if they are doing the right thing.

You CAN shop online and still support.
Small businesses don’t have to just be viewed in person, although that is a lovely way to shop. But think of the number of small retailers, designers and brands you can see online. You can find a silversmith making awesome jewellery from Scotland. An artist making the most vibrant prints in London. Many sustainable and upcycled items from all over, not just the UK but the world. Now you can’t get that from your local market.

How Be Designer differs
Most ecommerce sites will present these items to you in such a way that you don’t realise the story behind them. But shopping is changing and people are wanting to know who made their clothes and where the materials came from. So, Be Designerencourages all our brands to introduce themselves and tell us their story on their own dedicated brand page. Take a look at our brands.
Seeing independent brands struggle, we made the decision to help others and provide a shopping platform that allows them to explain who they are, what they are about and why they differ to others. All this, without charging unnecessary extra fees, and decreasing their already small profit margins. If you’d like to view these stories and creations, visit www.bedesigner.co

With so many shapes and styles of swimwear it can be tricky to know which is the going to be the one that makes you feel most confident and fabulous when lounging poolside. Luckily society is slowly abandoning its ideals of being “bikini ready” and we’re realising that you shouldn’t have to have the body of a supermodel to enjoy wearing swimwear. However if you’re not currently blessed with the body confidence of Lizzo you might want to try faking it until you make it with some of these confidence boosting tricks.
The first step is understanding your body shape and we’re not going to dive into pears, apples and any other fruit based metaphors - we’re keeping it simple and looking at things like the size of your bust, hips and overall body shape!
Small Bust:
Hands up if like me, you’re a full signed up member to the itty bitty titty committee?! Without needing the structured support of those fuller busted ladies, smaller busts have a wider range of options available. If however you’d like to create the illusion of a larger bust or balance out a bottom heavy figure here are some top tips of styles to look out for:
* Look for bikini tops / swimsuits that have ruffles / details / embellishment around the neckline and shoulders - this draw the eye to your top half especially if you stick to a plain bikini bottom.
* Underwired and lightly padded styles are great for giving your girls an extra bit of oomph
* Patterned or brightly coloured tops with a darker coloured bottom will also emphasise your bust.
Big Bust:
Support is crucial for those with a bigger bust. Flaunting those curves whilst ensuring your swimwear is comfortable and supportive. You want to look for styles able to effortlessly keep your ladies contained whilst still looking sexy and stylish.
* Look for wider straps which will offer more support than string tie styles
* Structured, panelled styles with an underwire will help to keep those ladies lifted *Try and stick to cup size swimwear rather than S, M, L
Broad Shoulders:
We often feel most exposed when wearing swimwear and while having broad shoulders can be a blessing when in regular clothes you may want to feel more proportional and balanced when wearing your one piece.
* V-neck, scoop and halter necks work great on broad shoulders, avoid anything with a square neckline which can make you look boxier
* Look out for bikini bottoms in bright colours or with interesting details / cut-outs this will help balance out your proportions
* One piece swimsuits with cutouts / coloured panels in the sides give the illusion of a more hourglass figure.
Flat Bum:
If heading down to the gym to do a 100 squats a day has not been high on your list of priorities recently then you might be looking to your swimwear to help you create that perfect looking behind!
* Ruching and frills are great for creating more of a curve
* Be brave and flash a bit more cheek - full coverage styles will only emphasise the flatness* Higher cut leg styles will also give a more rounded look
Big Bum:
If you have ALL the junk in your trunk and are blessed with a big booty here’s the best way to show it off.
* Leave the string bikinis and thin straps in the store - you’re looking for something with more coverage
* Avoid high cut styles that can ride up and make you feel fidgety
* Look for solid coloured styles paired with embellished / patterned tops to balance out your proportions
Tummy:
Lets be honest not all of us have been blessed with the body of a Victoria’s Secret model and if you’re not feeling that confident about bearing your midriff then check out these tips:
* One piece swimsuits with draping or ruched details across the waist are great for drawing the attention elsewhere
* Try high waisted bikini bottoms with a contrasting coloured top
* Look out for peplum styles and plunging necklines to draw the focus to your bust.
Being in swimwear should be a fun experience - you’re either on holiday, hitting the pool for a splash about or in your garden topping up your tan. Its an opportunity to be brave - wear a bright colour, a sexy show stopper or something that’s just outside of your usual style and remember the easiest way to feel confident is to smile!

Phuket, Thailand welcomes millions of tourists every year. For a small island, this influx of tens of thousands of people quickly saturate the beaches, shops, and restaurants. So where can you go for your relaxing Thai beach vacation? Several years ago I found just the place.
Located on the island of Koh Yao Yai I found a dream villa on an island with significantly fewer foriegn visitors. Imagine a private infinity pool overlooking the Andaman Sea. Picture an outdoor rainfall shower on a natural stone floor. See yourself taking in the sunset from an outdoor bathtub. Where do you find this dream? Spend a few nights at Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort in one of their private ocean front villas and you’re there.
Beyond the beauty of the property, this place is special for even more reasons. Outside the resort you can rent a motorbike for the day and explore the entire island. Since the island is not as popular as its neighbors Phuket and Phi Phi, it is entirely possible to find private white sand beaches. You can cruise through the small villages and you’ll notice that the locals here are a bit different from most others you see in Thailand. That is because the island is inhabited by a majority Muslim Thai population. Southern Thailand hosts greater religious diversity as you move closer to Malaysia and Indonesia.
To add a cherry on top of a lovely stay, a monkey made himself at home on the villa patio during my visit. He even tried to open up the villa sliding doors to come inside and presumably bask in the air conditioning. Maybe he wanted to come inside to find a snack, who knows? It was quite an unexpected, exciting moment during the the trip. I still remember shouting, “There’s a monkey at the door!”

]]>A little bit about Vinyasa
While some people believe vinyasa means “movement with breath”, vinyasa actually is sanskrit for “to place in a special way”.
The word predates yoga as a physical practice. You could “vinyasa” anything, from how you completed a project to how you hiked a certain path. Vinyasa was about mindfulness in the movements and decisions you made.
Vinyasa yoga, in short, is characterized by continuous movement linked with the breath. It is in a Vinyasa class where you’ll most likely see things like Sun Salutations and “flowing”.
A “flow” is usually defined as “breath with movement.” For example, you might be in a seated position and instructed to inhale your arms up, then exhale your arms down, repeating this for a few breaths. This movement is a type of “flow”.
Sometimes teachers will tell their students to “do a vinyasa flow”. This is typically shorthand for a specific and connected set of movements. Sometimes this vinyasa flow looks like a variation of a push-up, a variation of a backbend, and a type of “neutral” pose.
This could take the shape of:

]]>I had a getaway week in Barcelona and wow what a city! The warm climate, the friendly locals and the incredible food.
My top tips for Barcelona is:
To stay :
The W hotel located in Plaça de la Rosa dels Vents is defiantly the place to stay, amazing service and beautiful rooms! As a big foodie they have two restaurants for breakfast.
Above is the view from my room, Below is the view from my daily breakfasts at Bravos.
The beach x pool:
The infinity pool at the W was my favourite pool, as big infinity pool lover I had to go everyday! It can get quite crowded so go early to grab a bed! From 2pm — 4pm there is no sun, a good time to get a spot because the sun comes back later on in the afternoon.
The W offers beach service at Barceloneta in front of the hotel and defiantly my favourite beach because it reminds me of home in Ipanema.
The restaurant:
El nacional is a MUST go to. I had to come back a lot of times their food is spectacular!
Roof top:
The 1881 Bar restaurant is the perfect call for those sunset drinks with your lover or in my case your friends. The white Sangria is fab!
The tourist attraction:
The park Guell is really impressive and the gift shop for little gifts for friends and family too, the one outside, I was in for about an hour.
